Salary range: $55,000-$65,000 based on experience and applicable skills

Job Summary:

The K–12 Education Senior Manager leads the development, delivery, and growth of the Museum’s K–12 programs, including field trips, camps, virtual instruction, and outreach. Reporting to the Director of Lifelong Learning, this role relies on informal education expertise and project management to create standards-aligned, engaging experiences rooted in the Museum’s collection. The Senior Manager supervises a small team, fosters collaboration, manages budgets and timelines, and ensures programs reflect best practices in museum education. They represent the Museum in the community, build partnerships with schools and organizations, and use feedback and research to continuously improve offerings.

Essential Job Functions:

Program Development & Project Management

• Design and maintain high-quality K–12 programs using evaluative feedback, community partnerships, and current informal learning theory and practices.
• Align lessons and programs with state and national standards, adapting for diverse grade levels and applying object-based and inquiry-driven approaches
• Establish project scopes, timelines, and deliverables; delegate tasks and monitor progress to ensure on-time completion.
• Manage project budgets and resources; ensure fiscal accountability and grant compliance.

Collaborative Leadership

• Supervise, train, motivate, and support education staff.
• Engage team members in strategic planning and decision-making; provide guidance that builds skills, confidence, and professional growth.
• Balance workloads and deadlines while maintaining a positive, supportive environment that values contributions from all team members.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure high-quality educational experiences that are well-funded, properly promoted, and designed to highlight The Neon Museum collections and the Las Vegas stories they tell.

Community Engagement

• Represent the Museum in local, regional, and national professional education communities.
• Cultivate and maintain partnerships with educators, schools, and community organizations.
• Gather feedback to ensure programs meet local needs and strengthen curriculum connections.
• Serve as a responsive point of contact for educators and partners.

K-12 Program Delivery

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons through field trips, camps, virtual instruction, and outreach.
• Manage classroom dynamics; ensure safety, accessibility, and inclusion for all learners.
• Maintain high standards of program delivery from all K-12 team members.

Qualifications & Skills

• Master’s degree in education, museum studies, history, art education, or related field preferred; equivalent experience with bachelor’s degree required.
• 3+ years of experience developing and delivering informal, standards-aligned education programs.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum standards and museum learning strategies.
• Public speaking, facilitation, and presentation expertise.
• Understanding of DEI principles and ability to uphold inclusive program practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with virtual learning platforms preferred.
• Interest in science, neon signs, local history, art, preservation, or Las Vegas culture.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required.

Working Conditions

• Requires travel to multiple sites and locations.
• Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and in close proximity to other people sitting / standing for long periods of time.
• Requires availability for occasional work on evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work outdoors in seasonal desert weather conditions with frequent exposure to bright, flashing lights and illuminated signage as part of the Museum’s Collection.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds.
• Ability to use a computer and office equipment.
• Valid clean driver’s license and use of a car.
