\n\nThe Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with exceptional needs in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations. This role focuses on developing and implementing effective educational programs that promote student growth, independence, and success in both academic and functional areas.
\n\nResponsibilities:
\n\nDevelop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student assessments, goals, and objectives.
\n\t\n\tProvide direct instruction in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas using research-based strategies and differentiated methods.
\n\t\n\tCollaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications.
\n\t\n\tMonitor and document student progress toward IEP goals using data-driven methods.
\n\t\n\tMaintain compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and other applicable federal and state laws.
\n\t\n\tManage classroom behavior through positive behavioral supports and restorative practices.
\n\t\n\tParticipate in multidisciplinary team meetings, eligibility determinations, and IEP review sessions.
\n\t\n\tCommunicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance and progress.
\n\t\n\tUtilize technology and assistive tools to support instruction and engagement.
\n\t\n\tMaintain accurate records and complete all required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
\n\t\nQualifications:
\n\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
\n\t\n\tValid state teaching certification in Special Education.
\n\t\n\tKnowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and best practices in differentiated instruction.
\n\t\n\tStrong classroom management and communication skills.
\n\t\n\tAbility to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and families.
\n\t\nPreferred Skills:
\n\nExperience working with students across mild to moderate or moderate to severe disabilities.
\n\t\n\tFamiliarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), PBIS, or restorative practices.
\n\t\n\tProficiency in data collection and progress monitoring software.
\n\t\n Work Environment:
\nThis position operates in a school setting and may involve working with students in inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, or self-contained settings. The role requires flexibility, patience, and a commitment to student growth and equity.
IDR Job ID #470436. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 37 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
