Project Manager – Chemical Manufacturing | Kankakee, IL (On‐Site)

A well-established manufacturing company in Kankakee, IL is seeking a Project Manager to lead capital projects from concept through commissioning. This on‐site role offers the opportunity to drive key investments in a safety‐focused, growth‐oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate project proposals, define objectives, and establish clear scopes of work
• Develop, manage, and control CAPEX budgets throughout each project phase
• Prepare detailed scopes for third‐party engineering bids; review and select vendors
• Oversee all project stages: Front‐End Loading (FEL), detailed engineering, approval, construction, startup, and project closure
• Lead EHS reviews at each phase to ensure full compliance and risk mitigation
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, procurement, and finance teams to ensure milestones are met on time and within budget

Requirements:

• BS in Chemical Engineering
• Demonstrated experience managing capital projects in a chemical or oil & gas manufacturing environment through the full lifecycle
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret engineering deliverables and drawings
• Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder‐management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project Management Certification (PMP, Prince2, etc.)
• MBA or advanced business/management degree
• Proven track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget
