Position Summary

The Production Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production schedules that align customer demand, manufacturing capacity, labor, and material availability. This individual will work closely with operations, warehousing, engineering, and sales to ensure on-time delivery, efficient workflow, and optimized use of plant resources.

This is a hands-on, onsite role requiring strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules
• Sequence work orders to maximize efficiency, minimize downtime, and meet delivery commitments
• Balance capacity across machines, labor, and shifts
• Adjust schedules in real time to address material delays, equipment issues, or priority changes

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Sales
• Coordinate material availability with procurement and inventory control
• Communicate schedule changes and priorities clearly to production leadership
• Support new product introductions and process changes

Data, Systems & Reporting

• Maintain accurate production data in ERP/MRP systems
• Track schedule adherence, lead times, and production performance metrics
• Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning and throughput

Inventory & Material Flow

• Align production schedules with raw material availability
• Assist in managing WIP and finished goods inventory levels
• Help reduce excess inventory, shortages, and expedite costs
