Overview Marine Cargo Surveyor | Remote W/Travel | Los Angeles, CA — Sedgwick As a marine surveyor at Sedgwick, you’ll have the opportunity to take on new challenges and help solve complex problems for the world’s best brands. Responsibilities Inspect cargo damaged in transit to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with a qualified opinion as to the cause of loss. Oversee loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded. Inspect damaged ships to determine the cause of damage and the amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures. Travel as required. Ideal Candidate / Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong background in handling cargo claims, hull and machinery, yacht damage assessments, or investigating marine equipment failures. Good oral and written communication skills; PC literate, including Microsoft Office; good customer service and organizational skills; ability to work independently and in a team. Must be able to kneel, squat or bend; climb, crawl, stoop, and work overhead. Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions. Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds; drive up to 4 hours per day. Continual use of manual dexterity. Compensation & Benefits Note: Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. For this jurisdiction, the starting pay range is $80,000.00 – $110,000.00 USD annual salary. Commission eligible.
