Epic Orders Analyst
Position Overview:
The Epic Orders Analyst will focus on Orders, Order Sets and be responsible for the design, build, implementation, testing, and ongoing support of Epic Orders functionality within the electronic health record (EHR). This role requires deep knowledge of Epic Orders, preference lists, order sets, protocols, and clinical decision support. The analyst will partner with clinicians, operational stakeholders, and IT teams to ensure workflows are optimized, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals for patient safety, efficiency, and quality of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure, build, test, and maintain Epic Orders applications, including order sets, preference lists, protocols, SmartTools, and clinical decision support.
Collaborate with clinical departments to gather requirements, analyze current-state workflows, and design future-state solutions.
Participate in system design sessions, workflow analysis, and validation sessions with stakeholders.
Translate clinical and operational needs into functional system specifications.
Perform unit testing, integrated testing, and regression testing to ensure system stability and accuracy.
Provide go-live support, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations to improve user experience.
Ensure compliance with organizational standards, change management protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, Meaningful Use).
Develop and maintain system documentation, workflows, and training materials.
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Epic Orders and provide guidance to clinicians, analysts, and project teams.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
Qualifications:
Epic Orders Certification
2+ years of experience as an Epic Analyst or similar EHR analyst role.
Strong understanding of clinical workflows related to ordering, order set management, and clinical decision support.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality solutions under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both clinical and technical teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
