Today, Clow Valve Company operates at two locations: Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Riverside, Calif. The Oskaloosa plants include iron and brass foundries, a machine shop, assembly, finished goods warehousing, shipping and administrative offices. Job Description



Purpose:

The MCF Assistant Plant Manager maximizes foundry operations by providing leadership on both the iron and brass production floor. Responsible for developing a relationship with each person, raising employee engagement and developing the group into a high-performance team working for a common cause. Guarantees seamless operations when the Plant Manager is not present by maintaining best foundry production practices in all areas (facilities, processes, materials, and people resources).

Key Performance Indicators:

Production Metrics –

  • Productivity: Achieving 11.5 man-hours per ton for Iron and under 20 man-hours per ton for Brass.
  • Scrap Rates: Maintaining scrap rates below 4% for Iron and below 2% for Brass.

Leadership – Average of 4.5 out of 5 for 360 surveys.

Employee Experience – Team Health Assessment score at an 8 out of 10 or higher.

Core Functions of Position:

Leadership (40%) – Drive cultural initiatives forward by becoming the change you want to see in others. Communicate and role model the Clow Mission, Vision & Values and hold others accountable for doing the same. Create an environment and a culture where promises made and promises kept are the norm. When an exception occurs, transparency, dialogue, negotiation, and re-promising happen automatically. Be a sponge, soaking up leadership lessons and growth opportunities at every opportunity. Ensure employees are empowered, valued, and inspired by the possibility of working at Clow Valve. Act as the conduit by persistently gaining clarity on goals and expectations from Clow senior leadership and then ensuring supervisors and production employees have the same level of clarity by conducting consistent one-on-one meetings, walking the floor, leading daily standing meetings, and utilizing all other opportunities to communicate, formally and informally. Articulate clear monthly, weekly, and daily plan of action. Be a resource for supervisors and employees in supporting development, resolving differences, and managing change. Drive all new initiatives in the facility.

Casting (30%) – Achieve manufacturing excellence by executing daily on production plans, directing, and motivating supervisors and technical employees and setting the context for a continuous improvement environment. Ensure key objectives are met by managing plant budgets and effectively allocating resources. Monitor scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement. Collaborate with supervisors to determine appropriate cost cutting measures and efficiency gains. Identify ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality. Be last line of defense for quality control. Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency and proactively identify issues.

ESHR Management (20%) – Promote a VPP culture. Provide a safe, high performance workplace for all employees by dealing with performance issues in a timely manner, supporting, enforcing and owning the policies and procedures in place and supporting new policies coming from leadership. Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety personnel to ensure all members of the manufacturing team are aware of and abide by safety policies. Hands on involvement of Human Resource issues and initiatives. Ensure company Safety, Environmental and HR policies are consistent with daily practices. Continual Improvement (10%) – Live a growth mindset, consistently thinking about, “how do we make it better” and “how do we keep up with change”. Answer the question, “What new technology and consumables can help us achieve the next level in manufacturing excellence?” Drive changes/innovation to the team by enrolling people in the process and results.

Qualifications



Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading root cause analysis investigations to enhance processes through data-driven insights.
  • Aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with MS Office; and Excel, AX experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Education & Experience:

Requirements:

-At least 5 years of experience in a foundry environment.

-Demonstrated experience in a managerial or supervisory role.

-Knowledge of regulatory compliance related to plant operations.

Qualifications

:

-Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, or Business.

-Experience with green sand foundry processes.

-Prior experience managing in a unionized workplace is a plus.
