Job Description
We are seeking experienced Medical Coders to support coding and policy-related functions using ICD, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems. This role involves analyzing and applying medical codes, interpreting policies, and ensuring documentation aligns with state, federal, and organizational standards. Level will be determined based on years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and apply ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures
Serve as a subject matter expert on ICD policy and coding systems
Interpret and implement federal and state coding regulations
Review reports to ensure accurate use of coding protocols
Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent application of ICD policies
Assist in the development and communication of coding-related procedures
Provide technical support and expertise for coding-related audits and compliance reviews
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and medical terminology
Familiarity with anatomy, physiology, healthcare delivery systems, and claims processing
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint)
Excellent analytical, research, and reporting skills
Ability to interpret healthcare laws, regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., AAPC, AHIMA)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications:
Credentialed with one of the following: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC
Active membership in AAPC or AHIMA required
3–4 years of relevant medical coding experience
