Job Description

Acupuncturist

The acupuncturist will utilize standard medical evaluation procedures and East Asian Medicine evaluation to formulate a differential diagnosis to develop an acupuncture treatment plan. The acupuncturist shall incorporate the various training techniques taught within East Asian Medicine and acupuncture, and may apply safe and effective advanced acupuncture techniques.

Opening and closing dates: July 10, 2025 to July 18, 2025.

Salary: $88,621 - $115,213 per year.

Location: Tomah, WI.

This position is full-time and permanent.

Duties

  • Provide group acupuncture as determined.
  • Document and code information related to patient care in the VA's electronic health care record on a timely basis.
  • Review referrals, screen for appropriateness of care, and direct Veterans to others services when necessary.
  • Participate in teaching principles of acupuncture to staff, students and residents including journal clubs, grand rounds and in-service trainings.
  • Problem solve issues in the delivery of acupuncture.
  • Communicate with other health care providers as appropriate.

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Education: Individual must meet one of the requirements below:
    • Master's degree in acupuncture or oriental medicine from a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
    • Advanced level degree in acupuncture or oriental medicine from a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).

Certification: Acupuncturists hired in the VHA must be board certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The board certification must be current and the acupuncturist must abide by the certifying body's requirements for continuing education.

Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice acupuncture in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the United States, or District of Columbia.
